I don’t know where in the chain of causality these facts fall, but
a) we have a healthcare spending problem in this country
b) every other conversation I overhear in the Mud Box at American University is about the health conditions of the students.
Just today I’ve heard about someone who has ocular migraines, someone who is deathly allergic to nuts, someone who lives in a bubble, and someone who had leukemia as a child. And this is among a crowd of teenagers and young 20-somethings, who, as a general rule, one would expect to be healthier than average. So are they being overtreated, do we all have inherently unhealthy lifestyles these days, or is the obstruction of Darwinism coming back to bite us in the ass with a bunch of unsustainable healthcare costs for sickly kids who, this being AU, will work at government agencies which will happily pay to treat all their myriad ailments?
